TOWN PLAN Municipal Energy Resilience Program We are pleased to announce that Shoreham received a Municipal Energy Resilience Program (MERP) Mini-Grant from the State of Vermont to help our residents learn more about ways to save money on energy bills and be more comfortable in your home. With this grant, we have engaged the Climate Economy Action Center of Addison County, a local non-profit, to bring their Energy Navigators program to Shoreham. Energy Navigators provide free one-on-one energy consulting to homeowners and renters. Working with a Navigator, you can make an energy plan for your home, learn about options for paying for these improvements, and get connected to contractors that can help you get this work done. Energy Navigators have developed an interactive website that helps you get familiar with some of these strategies. You can also sign up there for a home consultation. Energy Navigators are committed to connecting you with State and Federal money for these projects. There are rebates and tax credits available to all income levels for weatherization work (insulation and air sealing), heat pump installation, electrical panel upgrades, and more. These folks have already assisted a few Shoreham residents and are currently scheduling visits in Shoreham for January and February . This is how you start: Contact Energy Navigators to schedule a visit through their website, by emailing at energynavigator.ceac@gmail.com , or calling (802) 587- 2550. Sit down at your kitchen table with an Energy Navigator and discuss your current home, comfort goals, and energy priorities. A visit usually takes about 60-90 minutes. The conversation and home tour helps the Navigator to determine next steps based on your goals. Following the visit, Energy Navigators create and send you an initial report to help you get started. They are available to answer questions along the way as you take action. We hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity. These are people that live and work in Addison County. The program is grant funded. Right now, there are opportunities to tap into incentives which make it more affordable to do these type of improvements. You can reduce your energy usage, while saving money and making your home more comfortable in the hot summers and cold winters. ENERGY NAVIGATORS
